Artist of the Month:
Corky Siegel's Chamber Blues

"Gritty Chicago blues and rarefied classical chamber music might not seem like a match made in heaven -- until you've heard Corky Siegel bring the two together . . a crowning achievement." - Chicago Tribune
Is it blues, is it classical?
Walking the line between Beethoven and B.B. King and armed with the creative genius and instrumental prowess that have defined his career for nearly four decades, Corky has pioneered an original, genre-busting Chamber blues - a fresh, innovative sound capturing the sparkling qualities of classical music merged with the emotional melodic style of blues, all within an intimate chamber setting.

WE REMEMBER THEM
Donald Grantham
SATB a cappella
G. Schirmer, Inc./Hal Leondard #50486401
Duration: Approx. 3:00
Donald Grantham, Professor of Composition at the University of Texas, was commissioned by the university to compose "We Remember Them" for a memorial ceremony held on May 5, 2005. The work honors the viticms of the notorious shootings at the UT Clock Tower that occurred on August 1, 1966. Gratham's text comes from the Hebrew Union Prayer Book. The setting portrays a simple journey from darkness to light, through grief to hope.
TEXT
In the rising of the sun and its going down,
We remember them.
In the blowing of the wind and in the chill of winter,
We remember them.
In the blueness of the sky and in the warmth of the summer,
We remember them.
In the rustling of the leaves and in the beauty of autumn,
We remember them.
In the beginning of the year and when it ends,
We remember them.
When we are weary and in need of strength,
We remember them.
When we are lost and sick of heart,
We remember them.
When we have days we yearn to share,
We remember them.
So long as we live, they too shall live,
For they are now part of us, as we remember them.
